My first port of call would be to check what the CEMA belt conveyor manual says.
The answer would also depend on if the conveying belt is smooth or chevron. ■

I have been in the salt business for over 30 years and I can tell you that 18 degrees is the maximum that you would want to incline a non chevron conveyor transporting salt. I personally do not like to see them over 15 degrees. ■

Max. Incline of Belt Conveyor for Salt
We are needing to transport chemical salt using an inclined belt conveyor. What would be the max incline for the belt and not have material roll back? ■
