I am wondering if anyone in the smelting industry has had any problems with thier anode paste belt. Currently we change our belt our every 12 weeks due to paste build up @ 140degree temp. I am trying new cleaners but would like to know if anyone has come accross this problem or if any onfor on releaseing agent etc many thanks

This is one for the forum members to really get their teeth into...if you give us the full story & maybe a few pictures.

Can the paste be recovered, etc.?

There is a firm which supplies heated screw conveyors. They can be sourced on the forums, somewhere.

Morning Anton...

We worked on the anode plant at Hillside Aluminium at Richards Bay here, but unfortunately not on the paste bit.

Why not contact their engineer, if he's still there...try..

I have just succesfully solved a major carry back problem with our reject conveyor.

I have installed a primary scraper with HV tungsten tip blades seems to be removing 95% of product & secondary cleaning the last 5% with nil carry back after that point.

I will be installing HV tungsten blades on our paste belt on the next belt change out & changing the primary pole position hopefully with some great results i will post pics soon.
