Special magnet rotor removes small fractions

DOMESTIC WASTE CLINKERS COMPLETELY METAL FREE *

In a recently initiated project Goudsmit Magnetic Systems B.V. of Waalre has installed three Eddy current separators in one line. They ensure a maximum yield of recycled metals from domestic waste clinkers. The separators remove large, medium as well as very fine fractions. The latest one is new for the recycling industry. To achieve this Goudsmit has developed a fine-poled magnet rotor, which also delivers maximum separation results for small fractions. The company has manufactured a test installation for testing, which can provide a good assessment of the expected results. In view of the current high metal prices, as well as the quality improvement of the products, the deployment of these three separators deliver an accelerated return-on-investment for the user.

Magnet rotor

The Neoflux® magnet rotor is located at the end of the conveyor construction. The speed of the rotor can be increased from 0 - 3000 per minute and generates eddy currents. The rotor produces an opposite magnet field, due to which the non-ferrous metals dart away. These metals can be captured behind the partition bulkhead.

The Eddy Current non-ferrous separator has been manufactured especially for the recycling industry and is intended for a heavy and dirty work environment. The non-ferrous separator is available with an operating width of 40 cm to a maximum of 2,5 meters, allowing for the processing of large quantities of waste. The entire system consists of a base frame, a vibrating conveyor, a control unit and the non-ferrous separator.

Applications

Mainly due to the stricter environmental requirements in Europe, a totally new market has originated in the last 15 years for Eddy Current non-ferrous separators as well as for many other magnet systems for the recycling industry. High dumping costs for waste and the prohibition on dumping waste force the industry to reduce the waste streams. Hereby a magnet is a relatively simple and cheap separation system. Hundreds of tons of reusable ferrous metals are fished out of several waste streams by means of magnets. More application areas are among others: car scrap, glass, domestic waste, wood, plastic, construction and demolition waste.
