Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik introduces new, innovative screen type

Ebbecke Verfahrenstechnik GmbH & Co. KG as leading contract processing provider for bulk materials is looking back on many years of experience with all common kinds of screening systems. At their own production locations, there are vibrating screens, rotating screens, tumble screens and vibration-rotation screens, as well as linear sieves in continuous operation. Here is where a lot of optimization possibilities showed up, which now influenced Ebbecke at building a completely new screen system on a linear sieve basis.

Especially the use of internal components like screws and nuts turned up to be problematic, because the risk of loosening and contamination of the product was high. Additionally, the changing of the screening surface was often time-consuming, causing long standing times and making the process more cost-intensive. Furthermore, other focuses should be on avoidance of accidents caused by openly turning components, on noise and dust emission reduction, as well as on increase of regulation possibilities for different products.

Following those specifications, a modular screen system was developed, in which both screen basket and screen top were placed in a closed case. The new system does not include any internal fixing devices and is equipped with a quick changer for screen surfaces. By complete abundance of internal fixing components a contamination is prevented in the first place. The quick changer provides an instant exchange of the screen surface by lifting of the screen top. Times wasted for the exchange could be reduced substantially, compared to common systems. Additionally, the new screen is equipped with a screen cleaning mode, ensuring a complete cleaning of all components in contact with the product.

The adaption of the machine to different products is done by means of a continuously variable frequency converter drive and a swing regulation. The screen aptitude, regulating the product duration on the screen, can easily be adjusted by hand.

Drive and screen unit are cased, in order to meet the high demands on security standards in any industry, but also to protect the drive from pollution, and to keep the system extremely silent and low-vibrating. The screening process itself can be observed through housing windows. All the parts being in contact with the product are made from stainless steel 1.4541 (V2A) or 1.4571 (V4A), the other components from steel or aluminum.

Thanks to the modular design every machine is available with various extensions and in different versions, for example as a combined screen-dryer or with an integrated shift screen. And because the new systems are also available in different sizes, they are most suitable for sensible sectors like the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food, chemical and animal feed industries.

Additionally to the pure technical improvements, economical matters have been on the developers’ minds from the very beginning. Now an enormous cost advantage in comparison to common systems could be achieved by creating a standard design for the new machines – lowering investments as well as operating costs.

Every single machine is calibrated individually for the processed product. Therefore, a pilot plant station at the Ebbecke works in Schoeneck near Frankfurt is ready to do short tests or even tests on production scale, representing the results of continuous operation. Naturally, Ebbecke is also ready to offer contract screening of complete tranches on these new systems.
