Recognised as a world market leader by the Hesse Ministry of Economics

Schenck Process has a high standing in Hesse. On the 28th of October 2008, Schenck Process GmbH was awarded first prize in the "World Market Leader" category of the "Hessen-Champions 2008" competition for its world leading and outstanding performance in measuring and process technology.

The Darmstadt-based company not only feels honoured that it has received this award but warmly welcomes the acknowledgment of a successful development and strengthening of its strategy by the awarding committee. Schenck Process has played a role in measuring and process technology for more than 125 years and offers innovative solutions to its customers all over the world time and again. The solutions include feeding and measuring technology in diverse industrial sectors e.g. cement, food, mining, pharmaceutical, power, steel and transport industries. With its feeders, the company ensures for example that industrially produced pizza dough has just the right pinch of salt and that the exact amount of each ingredient is added to medication. But the feeding specialists are also responsible for tasks on a much bigger scale. In cement production, a very wide range of coal dust types are used with precision and economic viability thanks to a high-precision coal dust feeder from Schenck Process.

The company was founded in 1881 as an iron foundry and scales factory and now employs approximately 2,000 members of staff, around 500 of whom work at the headquarters in Darmstadt. Schenck Process is represented via 27 national Locations worldwide, 16 of which are also involved in production. Around 90% of sales are currently generated abroad.

In 2005, the company broke away from the former Carl Schenck AG in a management buyout; Schenck Process GmbH and its international organisation has since been a fully independent company. The company has grown significantly through a judicious balance of organic and inorganic growth and doubled its profitable sales within the last few years. This consistent growth strategy also won the company the "Strategy Award for Mechanical Engineering Companies 2007", which was promoted by the consultancy firm Oliver Wyman and the business journal "Produktion".

Schenck Process has also been recognised for its good working conditions, which not only offer the employees challenging prospects for the future, but also a pleasant working environment and scope for personal development: An independent research institute nominated the Darmstadt company, along with 24 other well-known companies, as the "Top Employer for Engineers 2008".

This year's "Hessen-Champions" competition was the eighth such competition organised by the Hesse Ministry of Economics, Transport and Rural Development and the Federation of Hesse Trade Associations (VhU). The competition is held to recognise the leading Hessian companies in the areas of research, development and application. Prizes are awarded in the “World Market Leader” and “Employment Creation” categories to companies which are world leaders in their industry or with respect to their size have created an above-average number of jobs. This year, the special prize "Together in Hesse" was also up for grabs which awards successful integration of international employees. Altogether 65 Hesse companies took part in the competition with 13 reaching the final.
