Cement Conveying

hello,

i wanna konw the details about cement characteristic, the repose angle,

now,

are some information is given: length is 160m with 50m vertical, 5 bends. and bulk density is 1500kg/m^3, if 75t/h material is need to be conveyed, how about the air flow , SLR, the pipe diameter.

but the client can provide compressor with 23m^3/min, so who can give me some information about conveying cement.

thank you

How about employing a consultant to solve your problem and learning from him

Dear teus

from the lots of documents in public, 100 solids loading ratio can be achieved for cement, the minimize air velocity is about 10-11m/s for dilute conveying, if client is right, the step pipe can be used, the terminal velocity is about 21m/s for DN150, and SLR is about 45, i think the air velocity is a little high.

by the way, how about the attrition to pipe

i would have your advice about the cement conveying

Dear kevinjcg,

The design you are now presenting is based on the client’s compressor of 23 m3/min and a 6”pipeline.

You indicate a 2 step pipeline without mentioning the diameter of the first section.

As the endvelocity is too high, I doubt that the begin diameter needs to be even smaller.

Therefore, I assume that the pipeline is 6” all the way.

In that case, the begin velocity will be 7.12 m/sec and the endvelocity will be 25.21 m/sec at a conveying pressure of 2.5 bar.

The SLR is then 36, resulting in 68 tons/hr.

Depending on the feeder system, the system capacity will be lower.

A two-kettle system with kettles of 7m3 volume and 5m3 cement content will have a system capacity of approx 58 tons/hr.

Back to the drawing board?

success

thank you for you reply

but would you tell me what kind of discharge valve and valve for inlet can be suitable,

i think the slide valve can be used, but dust emmision may be out , would you give me some advice?

Dear kevinjcg,

I always used rubber seated, pneumatically actuated, butterfly valves in cement conveying.
