Software to automate machine functional descriptions

Can anybody out there tell me if there are software out there to assist with the development of machine Functional descriptions. Most people use word. But this leaves the the machine code open to the interpretation of the plc programmer. I am looking for somthing that could generate guidelines that could be factory tested.

Matlab should do the job. There is also a progam from Natioanl Instruments. Failing that you could ask Adept Scientific for something out of their range which will tie you down better.

Surely machine code should be open to the interpretation of the plc programmer. Isn't that why they're both there?

Yes the PLC programmer can do his own thing. But as the Machine/Plant OEM the software must be Factory Tested to ensure that all the required sequence Interlocks, Machine Safety and Personnel Safety interlocks are met.
