MESA International Announces Jan Baan as a Keynote Speaker of 2008 Plant-to-Enterprise Conference: Delivering on Strategies

Chandler, AZ (August 12, 2008) – The Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association, MESA International, today announced Jan Baan as a keynote speaker of its Annual Plant-To-Enterprise Conference: Delivering on Strategies, which will take place September 21-23, 2008 at Rosen Plaza, Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Baan, who is Executive Chairman and CEO of Cordys, has more than 25 years of entrepreneurial and business leadership experience in the software sector. Internationally recognized for his key role in developing the worldwide enterprise software market, he is a self-made serial entrepreneur.

As a MESA keynote speaker, Mr. Baan will be addressing the question – how can manufacturing and manufacturing IT teams best deliver on corporate strategic initiatives, such as lean, quality and regulatory compliance? He will discuss what manufacturers can learn from the application of Business Process Management (BPM) and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) in the enterprise layer – and how to achieve the same impressive benefits using new technologies and processes in the manufacturing / industrial environment to drive corporate initiatives.

Mr. Baan founded The Baan Company in 1978, shortly after attending Business College, and developed his first software package one year later. He grew The Baan Company to $680 million in just 20 years. In the late 1990s, he became a successful Venture Capitalist focused on software innovation. Mr. Baan was an early investor in on-demand collaborative software company, WebEx Communications, which was acquired for $3 billion, as well as an early backer of Top Tier, which was acquired for $400 million.

“As a visionary and highly successful business leader, Mr. Baan brings a wealth of knowledge on how manufacturing and manufacturing IT teams can leverage disruptive technologies to enable change and plant-to-enterprise improvement,” said Alicia Bowers of GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms and MESA Conference Co-Chair. “We are honored to share Mr. Baan’s insight – which complements general sessions on the MESA Strategic Initiatives and introduction of the Strategic Initiatives guidebooks at this year’s conference.”

The MESA 2008 conference will focus on “Delivering on Strategies” and the new MESA Strategic Initiatives and guidebooks. Attendees will learn best practices and guidance that detail how plant-wide information systems support five key strategic corporate initiatives:

• Lean manufacturing

• Quality and regulatory compliance

• Product lifecycle management

• Real-time enterprise

• Asset performance management
