Feeders : Digital Disc Dosing

The unique Colortronic dosing disc is now 37 years old and its accuracy, consistency and benefits to the customer have been proven world-wide.

Unlike screw feeding, which produces a pulsing discharge and is very noticeable at low rates and is vulnerable to head load variations of material, “digital disc dosing” has been shown to provide a much more consistent flow, in particular at low rates and regardless of material head load. The open pocket digital disc dosing design, combined with the power shear system ensures that each pocket has virtually the same amount of material time after time.

This technology is coupled to a “PWM” (pulse width modulated) digital controller which uses a synchronous control algorithm so material is dispersed over the complete screw back time or extruder revolutions.

Benefits of this synchronous dosing is that perfect colour, even at low rates, is achieved second to second without the need of any mechanical mixer and changes can be made on the fly to recipes and without any premix of material being wasted on colour or recipe changes.

The control is easy to use with direct input of parameters and recipes and clear display and diagnostics and is available in 1-4 components.

The Colorblend is available in both digital volumetric and gravimetric versions to suit injection, blow moulding and extrusion applications.
