Waste Treatment Plant
The plant started up last May and will operate for four months in a commissioning phase, carrying out the necessary tests on all the equipment and machinery in the installation, testing their performance before the definitive handing over, foreseen to take place in September. The equipment supplied by TAIM WESER is present in all the waste treatment processes of the Ecoplanta, which are structured in different areas: Reception, Pre-treatment or primary treatment, Biomethanisation and Composting area.
Thus, TAIM WESER has supplied two Electric Overhead Travelling cranes for feeding the lines in the Reception Area, including their control consoles with weight control display, as well as the maintenance crane for these lines. These EOT cranes have a capacity of 9 t. and a span of 10 m and are equipped with 6 m3 grabs.

As for the Primary Treatment Area, the total installation has consisted in the turnkey supply from TAIM WESER of four lines for solid urban waste with a capacity of 25 t/h and one line for packaging with a capacity of 5 t/h. The equipment supplied for each of the lines incudes: A primary feeder with a totally finished shredding cabin, bulky object selection, a bag opener (only in the packaging line), a drum screen, a ballistic separator, including insufflated air in the rolling material unloading area, a plastic separator both automatic and for manual film, conveyor belt assembly with manual shredding cabin, belt assembly in product storage deposit, optical separator acceleration belt assembly, including the necessary hoppers and overhead boxes, feeder assembly and finally, the hoppers and hopper closures with the line pits.

For the Biomethanisation Area (anaerobic fermentation) TAIM WESER has supplied two organic material buffers, the corresponding feeder line assembly to the buffers, the distribution to biotemethanisation and the biomethanisation dehydrated product belt assembly to composting, and the continuous weighing scales.

Finally, in the Composting Area, TAIM WESER has supplied the turnkey installation of the Compost Refining plant, consisting of a primary feeder hopper, a Drum screen, conveyor belt assembly, transversal feeder to densimetric tables and 2 densimetric tables. In all these areas TAIM WESER has also supplied all the equipment structures, with their corresponding walkways and accesses.
The Zaragoza Ecoplant, with a surface area of 49 hectares, is one of the largest in Europe fully devoted to the integral treatment of urban waste, with a capacity for 450,000 tonnes of waste per year and 15,000 tonnes of light packaging. The plant, which will provide service to nearly 70% of the citizens in Aragon in the next 15 years, will allow for recovering 9,000 Tm of plastic a year and 360 Tm of aluminium. Furthermore, it will produce 25,000 tonnes of compost and 7 mWH of electricity a year.

With the turnkey supply of the Pretreatment lines and Compost Refining plant, in addition to other equipment, TAIM WESER has equipped the new Zaragoza Urban Waste Treatment Plant with up-to-the-minute technology, turning it into one of the most advanced and modern plants in Europe and a real technological benchmark in this type of installations.
From its new Waste Treatment Business Unit, TAIM WESER continues to strongly commit itself to new equipment and cutting edge technological progress for this expanding sector. The Business Unit with bases in Bad Oeynhausen and Zaragoza, has extensive experience in this sector and has supplied different equipment with its own design, engineering and manufacturing to big Waste Treatment plants in several countries.
