Selection Criteria
Basically ...........
Circle throw inclined screen type:
- MOST ECONOMICAL (gravity is free)
- less expensive capital cost
- less maintenance headaches
- smaller motors to operate
- lots of TPH cheap
.........................
Linear Motion: GEAR DRIVEN Horizontal screeners:
- Most expensive to buy and operate
- Typically picked if need to install in tight space, height restrictions, etc
- typically picked for dewatering applications
- Higher capital cost than inclined....due to 2 shafts, gear drive setup, bigger drive motor needed due to flat installation, more power needed to run vs inclined
- Much longer for bearing changes on gear drive, more complex
- less TPH typically.....run at 45FPM vs 60FPM-75FPM on 20 deg inclined screens
................................
At the end of day........if you ask 10 people you will get a split of about 50/50 due to person preferences....and everyone if right.
.............................
Linear screens with INVICTA type motors......are not as aggressive stroke action or operating G's as gear driven units. ■

Dear Mr.Baker,
Thanks for your valuable information.

Re: Selection For Type Of Vibratory Motion
Most of the quaries use circular or elliptical motion screens. Mining and dewatering screens use linear motion screens - linear motion can be also achieved using 2 cicular motion mechanisms ■
