Sir,

We are in the process of designing a terminal... either for handling iron ore or coal. Different rail mounted equipments will be installed like stackers, unloaders, wagons and shiploaders...can you please give us the following information regarding the rail tracks..

1) Different sizes of rails used by Indian Railways

2) Weight of the track in lb/yard or in kg/m

3) Sizes of the rails with nomenclature for above bulk handling equipments.

4) Cost of rail tracks for loco including all civil structure.

5) For bulk handling equipments like stackers, ashiploaders and unloaders, the rail track size will be different than that for wagons.. can you please furnish the approximate size and the cost of rails required for wagons and other equipments?..

There just has to be an Indian Standard for Crane rails which will be just as comprehensive as the Indian Standard for Train rails. Look for, & then at, them.

For costs you go to a rail track laying contractor.

These are the sort of questions we pass on to the clerks in procurement.
