15 tons/hr quick lime over 600 m of pipe line will require approx. 3.0 to 3.2 kWh/ton,
using a kettle system.
The influence of water (humid convey air) can be calculated when the air volume and the
water content of the air is known.
The chemical formula, how the quicklime reacts with the amount of H2O in the convey air, shows how much lime is bonded.
Weighing or metering should be done outside the pneumatic conveying system.

Thanks for the information,
We don't care about the fact that quicklime can partially be transformed in Calcium hydrate (that we know that we can convey the same way) but about "clogging" of the pipe, while reacting with the water coming from the air.
Do you know if transport air in humid countries is dryed ?
( 35°C and 90 % relative humidity)
What's the target to dry if needed ? ( 5°C dew point ?)

Quick lime reacts with atmospheric moisture and clogs pipes very fast. Talk to someone who has experience of these kind of systems as the engineering solution is not that simple. ■

As far as I am aware, drying of convey air is never done in installations where bulk materials are conveyed.
I can understand that in chemical or pharmaceutical installations drying and conditioning of the air is necessary (or evens the application of an inert gas)
Sometimes the convey air is cooled just after the compressor and the water condenses partly and that water is separated from the air.
Straight forward calculation:
150tons/hr CaO = 4.167 kg CaO/sec
SLR = 17.2
Mass of convey air = 4.167 / 17.2 = 0.242 kg air/sec
At 35 degrC and 90% humidity and at 1 bar(abs),
the water content of the air = 0.03289 kgH2O/kg air
Mol mass of CaO = 56
Mol mass of water = 18
18 kg H2O reacts with 56 kg CaO
Present mass of H2O = 0.242 * 0.03289 = 0.00796 kg H2O/sec
Reacts with 50/18 * 0.00796 = 0.0221 kg CaO/sec
Reacted part of CaO = 0.0221/4.167 * 100 = 0.53 %
I doubt tht 0.53 % bonded mass (evenly spread over the massflow) will cause plugging.
The remaining 99.47 % of dry CaO will clean out the bonded Ca(OH)2
In my experience (mainly cement and 1 case of quicklime) this is the case.

The SLR of 17.2 is the result of a preliminary guess calculation.
As the distance of your conveying system is 600m, the SLR should be low.

Means more air to transport the quicklime = more kW ???
Your estimation of 3.0 to 3.2 kWh/ton means about 48 kWh.
And 48 kWh is producing about 8m/min = 480 m3/h
480 m3/h = 620 kg of air/ hour
15000 kg of lime / 620 kg of air = 24.
Where am I wrong ?

In my (preliminary, guessed, indicative, design)) calculation,
a screw compressor was selected with 13.5 m3/min at 25 bar(o),
requiring 48.8 kw of power.
(A VM 15R Aerzen screwcompressor requires 50.8 kw for 810 m3/hr at 2.5 bar(o))
I assumed a double pressure tank system, where capacity is lost in purging- and pressurizing times.
For more accurate calculations, the product properties of the Lime and the pipe layout need to be known.

Quick Lime conveying
I am planning to have a pneumatic conveying system for conveying quick Lime ((0-90 microns) to silos located at a distance of 600 m.
Dense phase pneumatic conveying is preferred.
Conveying capacity required : 15 TPH.
Density of quick Lime : 0.95
What is the kWh/ conveyed ton for such an installation?
What's the impact of the air humidity (India) on the transport ?
Do we have to dry the air ?
