1. Normally, belt's are rated in N/mm units of breaking strength.

2. Fabric belt Safety Factor (SF) = 10:1 over operating tension

3. Operating tension = 80 da/cm = 80 N/mm

4. Belt Breaking Strength Rating = 80 N/mm x SF=10 = 800 N/mm

5. Fabric per ply breaking strength = EP = 200 N/mm

6. Number of plies = 800 N/mm / EP 200 N/mm = 4 plies ■

In India we specify as follows

EP is the type of fabric used in the construction (E) stands for polyester (P) for Nylon. So EP is Poly/Nylon construction. EP630/3 (Poly/Nylon 630 is breaking strength N/mm) or converted to PIW for us Americans would be 630 X .5716 = 360 PIW @ 10:1 safety factor. So EP630/3 in US terms would be (3 ply 360 PIW). Where it becomes confusing is EP630/3 is actually 3 plies of EP200 fabric. EP1000/3 is 3 plies of EP315 fabric. EP800/4 is 4 plies of EP200 fabric. You may also convert EP200 X.5716 = 114 PIW per ply, EP315 X .5716 = 180 PIW per ply and so on.

QUESTION: What specification?EP300?Ep200? How many ply?

ANSWER: EP200 x 4ply x (6+2), Total thickness:13.2mm, Mould Edge, Grade: DIN W(abrasion: MAX. 90mm^3)

P.S.: The nomoral skim of EP200 = 1.1 mm, and here you need some more skim rubber to gurantee the total thickness. This is very important, don't forget.
