PROJECT MANAGER – Industrial Equipment Co. - Delaware Location

Our client is a leading manufacturer of Material Handling Solutions and Blend Plants throughout the World. They are seeking a Project Manager located in their Delaware (USA) corporate offices. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for all assigned project outcomes once a contract sales order is received through final system delivery and follow-on service to the customer. The management of projects includes responsibility for budgets, schedules, and overall customer experience and includes leveraging multiple resources, both internal and external, in fulfillment of duties. The desired candidate will have as a minimum a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline OR a Bachelor of Arts in a Business related field. Other levels of education and experience may vary according to business need and supervisory discretion. Minimally 5 years industry experience in Material Handling/Conveying and 7 years working in direct contact with customers or end users. Compensation for the position will vary depending on experience but will be in the $60K-$70K range.

Responsibilities of the position are as follows:

PM is responsible for the total outcome of any assigned project yet leads a virtual team on non-direct reports representing engineering, sales, the fabrication shop, field installation services, and start-up personnel. These resources must be brought together into a cohesive unit on a project-by-project basis and be held accountable by the PM for their duties toward the project.

Additional Responsibilities:

Follow the Project Manual procedure to manage all assigned projects.

Strive for further sales opportunities when working on a company project where customer needs remain unmet.

Act as the primary conduit for communication with the client once a sales opportunity is converted to a project.

Report weekly to the Customer and team status, results and challenges with all projects.

Use the tools of Project Management, including software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, Word, and Access, status update and EC change forms, etc.

Manage project team members toward fulfillment of objectives of each project, including assignment of duties where applicable, direction, and disciplinary action.

Be present on-site at the customer location during the initial stages of installation and throughout that process, and during the entire start-up and sign-off procedure.

Show ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, applying sufficient resources to each, including supplier and temporary human resources costed against the project as needed.

Successfully deliver all assigned projects on time, at or under budget, and gaining customer acknowledgement of an exceptional project experience.

Obtain a Customer Satisfaction survey at the completion of every project and resolve any issues where performance was deemed to be less than favorable.

Ensure collection of client fees in a timely fashion, beginning with the “Due Upon Receipt” project down payment, through progress payments to the invoice upon final acceptance.

Cash flow of an individual project is the responsibility of the PM.

Deliver Consulting Engineering projects for a fee as opportunities develop to partially cover the fixed cost of Engineers and PMs and to solidify sales opportunities for systems.

Work with sales and estimating to deliver an average project margin of 20% for all material handling systems projects.

Project Manager is expected to function autonomously on a daily basis in performance of his/her job duties. The Vice President/Business Delivery Manager will assist/direct Project Manager, as necessary, based upon Project Manager’s performance.
