BullDozers

Dear All,

How to decide the No of Bulldozers required in a thermal power Plant for handling Coal such it is adequate to to feed the reclaim Conveyors at 125% MCR requirement.

Coal consumption is 465 tph at 100%BMCR ,

The bulldozers Should be of 350HP(min) capacity,

Coal Dozing Blade:

Length:5m(min)

Height:1.5m(min)

Think Volume Of Cut

Hi saveen,

You can calculate this on your spreadsheet. Calculate the volume of product captured by your dozer - or measure it on site if you prefer. Then work out the distance your dozer has to travel to move the product, and nominate the speed. He will have to travel forward, reverse, and manouver for the next cut. Again, you can do this with a stop watch to get some basic timings.

At Geraldton Port we use a single front-end loader to move 700 tph.

Have seen "production curves" for equipment distributed in Australia.

I suggest you approach the proposed equipment suppliers.

with what little work that earth mover will be doing you will be money and time and production ahead by installing a WR STAMLER belt feeder with a short conveyor to the power plant dump site for drawdown to the steam station using one dozer or wheel loader- the wheel loader will cost less-buy a letournyea wheel dozer and reduce your problems and equipment inventory-

you have remember that you will be rebuilding those blades quite often due to wear so having a spare wheel dozer blade is a necessity.

the other option is a tracked excavator with a 12-15 yard bottom dumping bucket to fill the belt feeder-it will be even easier than a dozer of the tracked or wheeled variety.

For one half of your story refer to the Caterpillar Handbook (They'll send it to you as a .pdf).

For the other half, actually putting the stuff on the belt --you should contact Stamler about their mobile reclaimer feeder.

Bulldozer In Coal Yard

Erstellt am 29. May. 2007 - 01:27

Dear Mr. John rz,

Mr. Saveen wants to use Bulldozer. Your last line says that a front end loader can move 700 t/hr.

As my knowledge Bullldozer & Front end loader are two different equipment. Normally Bulldozer is used for dozing the material & the other one is for reclaiming the same.

I am confused!

Mr. Saveen please you give me the following information

- Existing conveying system write-up i.e, what you have in your coal conveying system.

- Coal storage system.

I will try to help you. I think you want to doze the material into a ground hopper which is fitted with vibrating feeder below it & then to conveyor system.

Esperance

Erstellt am 30. May. 2007 - 03:59

Hi folks,

At Esperance Port we use 4 x 25 ton bucket front end loaders to move 4,800 tph iron ore, nickel, or lead - that looks like 1,200 tph for each machine.

With bulldozers you have to be above the hopper to get your product into the conveyor feed hopper. With a front end loader you can reach up some 1.5 to 2 m above the deck. If we need greater height over the conveyors at the mines we provide an earth ramp for our rubber tyred loaders handling ROM ore (Some of this stuff comes though in 1 m size boulders). We call that a "reach-over" installation, as compared with a "drive-over" hopper.

Have fun me harties - Sgt John.rz

At the risk of repeating myself; earthworks, ground hoppers & all the other rubbish are not required if you spend a few quid on a Stamler Feeder.

In a CAPEX strapped world its amazing there's any competition.

Kindly help him.

He has already been advised to approach Caterpillar for their handbook which will give him the performance predictions he needs. Its a large file & takes some time to download. I wrongly assumed that everybody in the business had a copy.
