We would like to inform you that a course in "Risk Analysis and Economic Valuation of Mining Projects" will be held on 3-5 April 2007 in Brisbane.

The course is intended for professionals who wish to gain a practical understanding of the latest scientific achievements in risk analysis and economic valuation of mining projects and develop skills essential for its application to real problem. The course places a strong emphasis on the estimation of the impact of risk on mine value over the life-of-mine. It covers a wide spectrum of effective solutions dealing with different types of mining project risk, such as geological, mining, mineral & metallurgical processing, economic, geomechanical and political.

The program represents a well-balanced combination of lectures and workshop exercises with available software.

Who should attend the course?



The course is designed for mining engineers, mineral exploration geologists, metallurgists, business analysts, mine contractors, and managerial professionals in the financial securities and government sectors, who are involved in issues of mine design, strategic mine planning, economic valuation of mineral reserves, mine investments, mine taxation and formation of mineral policy. Basic knowledge in probability and statistics would be helpful but not essential.

The course will be presented by Dr. Graham Davis of the Colorado School of Mines, Dr. Rossen Halatchev of CRCMining, University of Queensland and Dr. Yves Potvin of the Australian Centre for Geomechanics.
