Atlas Copco Surge Control Problem

Posted in: , on 20. Dec. 2006 - 08:51

Dear sir,

I have experienced a problem with Atlas Copco air compressor surge control system that the compressor is not maintaining the discharge pressure. The discharge pressure set point is 9.8 bar, but the compressor is maintaining it only 9.4 bar. We have a protronic PS controller (H&B) for anti surge protection. First and secod stage diff. pressure and discharge pressure transmitters are connected to the protronic controller. Both IGV and Blow off valves are controlled by protronic controller only. We observed that the blow off valve is not closing fully (14 % opening) and not maintaiing the discharge pressure eventhough the compressor load is 100%. IGV was found working nicely at this condition as it opens 100% to maintain the load. All field instruments calibration were checked and corrected. I hope that the problem with protronic controller configuration. If any body knows how to solve this issue, please advice me.

Thanking you,

sajeev

It definetely sounds as if the blow off/relief valve is defective.

How often do you change the oil air separator?
