You have not specified what type of crane you intend/wish to rent or the type of crane service rental you wish to enter.

machinery rental is a very big business with much competition.

And a huge factor is "build out" to the point where there is little or no business locally and travel is necessary to find work with mobile cranes.

large container cranes are dedicated/locked to dock side operation and are usually owned by the port operator. as they are erected on site and left to dedicated service.

A large crawler crane is a different unit as it is and can be mobile and is used for removing very heavy and very large components and high lifting apllications.

If you are referring to mobile crawler cranes/rough terrain and or highway cranes that is a totally different type of work situation where work can be both difficult to obtain and plentiful if you are in the right location. the other problem is paying for the machinery on time every month unles you can purchase it outright.
