I work in a bearing factory. Our bearing has ditch in the inner ring. But my customer's drawing shows there is no ditch in the inner ring.

As i know, the ditch in inner ring help the seals to be more proof.I don't know why they need no ditch.

Could you help me ?

the groove in the middle of the race keeps the ball bearings in line with the cup and cone.

Is this bearing of the type that will allow you to add an additional ball in the raceway of the bearing?

My customer accepted our samples. But i still want to know the reasons. Is they only need to save the cost? As I know, ditch in the inner ring need more labor.

Now that I know a little more about your bearing, My other question is whether it is oil lubricated or uses grease to lubricate it. most likely it is oil since the cage is designed the way it is.

Also the step helps in installation to center the bearing when it is installed as a thrust bearing stack it does not affect the bearing height.

Bearings can be designed for any use and are flexible in design to be adapted to almost design use depending on the bearing size, type and speed.

Hi there,

I know it is late to reply but the shoulder you are pointing to is simply there for a dust shield or lip seal to ride on. The shield or seal is typically part of the bearing and with single row bearings bearings carry the suffix Z or ZZ for single or double shielded designs.

Hi Lyn,

What the application of the bearing for?

Does the client need the bearing completed with cage?
