Ratchet and pawl mechanism

hi every one ,

i want to design a ratchet and pawl mechanism for driving a heavyll loaded circular plate toal weight of which is about 500 kgs rotating intermitently about 15 degree a minute. how to design the tooth profile, thickness ratchet wheel, the ratchet wheel is driven by a pawl, help me in designing the pawl also......please...............

Don't re-invent the wheel. Buy yourself a Sprag Clutch.

Dear Shri Naveen,

I am not clear from your question. You are intending to drive some system by pawl and ratchet arrangement. Possibly, you are looking for intermittent push as inferred by “designer”. Then he has already given the answer. I have not come across pawl and ratchet arrangement to drive the system. Generally one comes across such system to prevent unwanted reverse rotation. In such situation, the pawl ratchet engagement function occurs at a very slow speed.
