Enclosed Bulk Systems has recently finalized a new Enclosed belt system at Meer Recycling in Halfweg, The Netherlands. The EBS Conveyor replaces three conventional belts which were causing great spillage at the transfer points and return parts, resulting in high maintenance and cleaning costs. Also the dust emissions to the neighboring surroundings caused great operational problems. All of these problems were solved by installing the EBS Conveyor.

In this case the investment costs of the EBS conveyor were higher than for a replacement with conventional belt as no parts could be reused form the existing installation. But the savings on cleaning and maintenance costs and the environmental advantage are by far justifying these extra investment costs.

The EBS conveyor transports woodchips (biomass) from the production area towards the quay where it is loaded into a vessel at a capacity of 450 m3/hour. Wood chips always contain a little oil, therefore the belt is made from a special oil resistant type.

The belt has a length of about 60 meters and elevates the wood chips to a height of over 6 meters. In the future the belt can be lengthened and more loading points further away in the production area can be added.

There is one other specific feature of the EBS Conveyor and that is the fact that all the rollers are at the outside of the belt and clearly visible for inspection from a distance. It is therefore not needed to have a walkway next to the conveyor as long as the conveyor is reachable form the floor for maintenance with a small crane (about 6 meter).

As a result of the multi point drive system, the belt tensions are very low. This enables the use of a very light weight steel support structure. In many cases the belt can simply supported from a wall or ceiling inside a building.

The belt can be delivered in two sizes: the EBS 800 is suitable for capacities until 120 m3/hour and the EBS 1400 is suitable for capacities until 450 m3/hour.

In many cases the EBS Conveyor is an economic conveying solution because of the simple and light steel structure and the savings on cleaning- and maintenance costs. The gains on environmental and labor circumstances are free extra bonuses.

Enclosed Bulk Systems, The Netherlands, is a specialist in the field of enclosed transport and storage of bulk materials and can assist you from pre-feasibility phase until the service on site after delivery.

PS: EBS informs that they now also have a German language version of their website, address see below.
