Dear sirs,

It is necessary to urgently calculate critical velocity for slurry d50=50 micron, SGsolid=2,7, SG slurry=1,14. Existing ID pipe - 506 mm.

I will be very grateful for help.

With the respect,

Alexander

As the volumetric concentration is below 10% and particles are smaller than 75 microns, you can use suitable formula descibed in one of my following papers:

Kaushal, D.R., Tomita, Y. and Dighade, R.R., "Concentration at the Pipe Bottom at Deposition Velocity for Transportation of Commercial Slurries through Pipeline", Powder Technology, An International Journal, Elsevier Publications, Volume 125, Issue 1, May 2002, pp 89-101.

Best wishes

D.R. Kaushal

The Durand's formula is: Vl=Fl*(2*g*D*(Sg-S1)/S1)^1/2.

Fl in your case is 0.75 (Durand's Graphic)

g: gravity acceleration

D: inside diameter of pipe

Sg: Slurry specific gravity

S1: Specific gravity of liquid or transporting medium

I hope to help you

Henk,

Trelleborg hose catalogues used to have a technical foreword giving the relevant information for hydraulic conveying.
