Powdered Pigment Batch Problems? Color variations can be a thing of the past.
The problem is that many batching machines, especially when it comes to powdered pigments, do not provide reliable coloring results because they cannot produce reliable minute batches of pigment, and even a slight variation is highly undesirable.
The ADP2000, a new development by SPEC Inc, is a machine that solves that problem because the JVI vibratory feeders used for dosing are highly accurate with highly repeatable feed rates so batches are consistently colored.
This particular installation is at Wausau Tile and is used to color a mixture that creates concrete
flooring and fixtures. But this batching equipment can be used in any dry powder batching system where dosing accuracy is key. For coloring batches of cement mixtures for statuary products to coloring powdered food or chemical product mixes, the ADP 2000 makes the grade.
CASE HISTORY:
Wausau Tile needed a dispensing system for small batches for their tile making application. The larger dispensing systems they already had in place were not capable of dispensing with the accuracy needed. It was decided based on tests with their material that vibratory feeders would provide the best solution to reach the necessary speed and accuracy. The president and chief engineer at SPEC Inc has had a lot of experience in the past using vibratory feeders and chose JVI FDLT Dosing feeders to incorporate in the ADP2000 based upon information he received from the company and his own research.
The main selling point of the ADP2000 system is batch to batch repeatability. With color, being able to consistently produce the same color every time is a necessity. The ADP2000 system is able to perform this repeatability, even at a very high accuracy. The system at Wausau Tile is a very high accuracy machine. It is designed to dispense a formula with an accuracy of 0.5 grams. Speed was also a necessity regarding Wausau Tile. The ADP2000 system had to be able to dispense up to a five pound batch at the .5 gram accuracy, mix the powder ingredients with water, and transfer the material to the larger batching tank of concrete within five minutes. Also, like all SPEC Inc systems, it is simple to operate. We use a PC to control the dispensing, enter formulas, and keep inventory records. It is a simple point and click interface with software written in Microsoft Access.
All systems are built, serviced, and supported from the main office in Denver, NC, USA.
