High Stroke Dewatering

Is it good to have fairly large strokes in a vibrating screen being used for dewatering coal.

My logic is that The higher the particles jump on the deck will allow more water to pass through the openings faster.

Whereas in smaller strokes the water might just float on the deck.

Should the strokes be maintained higher for dewatering and D&R applications or should the VSMA guidelines be accepted.

Your logic appears to assume that the water does not 'jump'.

Ya maybe water jumps too...........

But i also assume that the more the particles jump they'll be washed better with the spray nozzles as they'll be exposed to it fully.

Please tell me what is the correct method of setting the amplitude.

Dewatering Coal

Hi Sandeep; yes, use VSMA according to speed, stroke, slope for dewatering FOR the opening on the top deck which is being screened.

REMEMBER: if we do not have proper stroke to clear top deck openings.......ZIP ALL , NOTHING happens below that deck. SO STROKE must be as per VSMA guide for top deck opening.

DEWATERING APPLICATIONS:

Industry like to use flat or horizontal type screens for dewatering and now the IN-THING, thee latest and greatest.......is dewatering at an uphill incline of say 8 degrees with a pretty brisk RPM.....

OF course, when dewatering.....watering will pass or dewater from material......if going slightly uphill prior to dropping onto a belt. Stainless wirecloth, slotted, flexmat and or urethane decks typical when dewatering.

BIG stroke......not really.......match.....or norm for DEWATERING.

Too Big Of Stroke When Dewatering

Hi Sandeep: A bit more info.

If we put an aggressive, BIG STROKE on a vib. screen to dewater, what will happen actually is this..........the material and the water will all stay SUSPENDED UP IN THE AIR due to too big of stroke action.

We still must set the RPM and stroke to the size of the material as a first step.
