My client seeks an experienced Field Service Technician who will be responsible for the service and maintenance of chemical application equipment and systems. The successful candidate will be able to monitor chemical usage and the performance of related equipment at Coal fired utility plants. This company is located in the western suburbs of Chicago. This position is based in the field and requires daily travel to customer sites utilizing a company provided vehicle. The successful candidate will possess the ability and experience in selling upgrades, parts and estimating service parts and labor costs for customers and must be comfortable with communication at several levels in a customer organization. This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager and from time to time may provide direction to subcontractors.

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

Provide required service and maintenance to customer equipment to optimize efficiency and effectiveness and minimize system failure and/or down-time.

-Monitor chemical usage, maintaining appropriate levels on-site and monitors equipment performance.

-Maintains positive customer relations by providing up-dates on equipment status and performance, training of company staff, prompt and efficient problem resolution and on-going communication.

-Maintain log book to reflect on-site actions and repetitive requirements at each customer site.

-Maintain service vehicle and inventory of tools, parts and supplies.

-Performs site surveys and equipment lists for new installations and test projects.

-Install equipment for test projects or new installations.

-Support project management team for start-up adjustment and tuning of new installations.

-Coordinates and schedules equipment repairs, projects and installations.

-Identify problem areas which may represent potential sales opportunities; reporting them directly to Sales Manager within assigned Region.

-Oversees and coordinates contractors and customer personnel performing service or installation of purchased systems.

-Performs housekeeping activities at all customer accounts related to sheds, skids, cabinets, manifolds and tanks.

-Orders parts as necessary, through Purchasing or approved suppliers.

Requirements

Position requires substantial mobility and dexterity to function within and between customer work sites.

Prolonged periods of sitting, standing / walking.

Ability to climb ladders and stairs; working in tight quarters.

Ability to lift / carry weights of up to 100 lbs.

HS diploma is required. An AS degree in a technical discipline is desirable. Candidates must supply a basic set of maintenance tools.

Candidates must be able to drive a motor vehicle to customer sites, use and operate general test and measurement instruments and maintenance tools, personal computer software, (Excel, Word, MS Project). On occasion this position will require the candidate to climb ladders and work in tight quarters.

COMPENSATION range is $31,200-45,000 annually plus incentive program

This company offers and excellent healthcare and dental coverage program, a retirement/savings plan and discretionary profit sharing, ten (10) company paid holidays, one (1) week vacation after six months of service and two (2) weeks of vacation after one year of service, three weeks of paid vacation after five (5) years of company service. This position is eligible to participate in a cash incentive program as well.
