Product Manager-Opportunity in the Chicago metro area POSITION IS FILLED AS OF 9-06-2005

My client seeks an experienced technical sales and marketing professional that understands the processes and operations of coal fueled utility plants and their unmet needs. The successful candidated will be able to present new concepts and enhancements in existing technology that ensure safety, efficiency and offer improved productivity benefits.

This position is located in the western suburbs of Chicago and will be part of a small, long established and rapidly growing company that serves the Electric Power Generation Industry. The company offers an opportunity to apply your professional skills and education at a key supplier to a large and essential industry, Power Generation, while being employed in a small, professionally managed and growing company. This position is based in an office environment but will require the ability to travel nationally on at least a 25% basis on visits to customer sites.

The key responsibilities are listed below:

• Creates and develops product introduction strategies for conveying products in a national territory

• Qualifies sales opportunities through research and contacts throughout the industry

• Implement cold calling and targeted sales generated from leads of all types to gain access to key decision makers

• Analyzes competitor products, customer needs, industry trends, customer operations and market pricing. Incorporates this data into an effective sales presentation.

• Provides quotes that illustrate cost effective features and improved productivity and performance over competitor’s products

• Recommends, and prepares industry trade shows, prepares trade show materials and presentation

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related discipline. An Engineering degree is also desirable

• Minimum of 5 years in a technical sales position preferably 10 years in field selling to corporate end users

• Knowledge of capital equipment sales cycles and the coal utility industry sector

• Demonstrated ability as a negotiator and ability to introduce new product concepts to decision makers and close orders

• The successful candidate should possess least 3 years of experience with the introduction of a complex technical product that requires capital budget approval at a level of over one million dollars annually.

This position will offer a more than competitve basic salary and also participates in a sales incentive program.

National US travel of approx. 25-35% is required in this position
