Re: Limiting Deflection Of Conveyor Trestle/ Towers
It is common to precamber the galleries etc to cater for the vertical deflection so that the belt is straight.
On the lateral deflection, U would have to use std structural guides and limits.

Re: Limiting Deflection Of Conveyor Trestle/ Towers
Another consideration is the structure's modal frequencies. Especially the first and second harmonic.
Check the belt flap frequency, idler spin frequency, and their coupling ratio. Design the elevated structure, select the idler spacing, and design the idler support trasnsom with brackets to be non-sympathertic.
If these conditions are not met, the structure will go into resonance with very dramatic results. This is also true of ground based structures. ■
Limiting Deflection In Trestle Suporting
Dear sir
my simple question is whether it is justified to specify
limiting deflection as 1000 in trestle suporting gantry/tower in traverse direction in IS CODE -11592 / ISO5048

Limiting deflection of conveyor trestle/ towers
Dear Sir
what should be limiting deflection in trestle suporting gantry/tower in traverse direction.
IS CODE -11592 which is prepared with the assistance of ISO 5048 specifies limiting deflection as 1000
While designing trsestles these are considered as cantiliver structure from gound . Considering limiting deflection as1000 trestle weight for conveors having trestle height more than 35 metres increases abnormally.
I have seen many installation where limiting deflection is not considered working satisfactorly.
What should be limiting deflection from conveyor opration point of view
