Innovative Separating Technology

Robin Engineering Services, one of the major players in the field of product classification and separation, has recently reached an agreement to market the ASZ – Diamond air separator in the UK and Ireland.

The Diamond, designed and proved in markets across Europe, represents a new concept for solving the difficult problem of separating different products with variable characteristics, but of identical or similar grain size. The separation process relies on the combination of product density and a regulated air stream to achieve the required result.

Product is entrained in a carefully controlled air flow, the velocity and pressure of which is precisely regulated to induce accurate separation by grain size and/or bulk density and, because of this, the Diamond has proved especially successful processing grains and seeds, such as wheat or rye, dried peas or beans, removing husks, insects, small stones and other unwanted impurities from the quality product.

Other possibilities are the separation of different qualities of reclaimed plastic which are milled to a uniform particle size, yet have different densities or the processing of chopped reclaimed copper cable to remove plastic sheathing.

Maintenance of the Diamond separator is much reduced, since the machine itself has only one moving part – the air stream generator – and this does not come into contact with the product at any time. There are no bearings to lubricate or shafts to grease – only a simple periodic inspection of the generator is required.

The Diamond separator is available in the sizes capable of processing, nominally, up to 12 tonnes of product per hour on a continuous basis, and can be free standing or supplied as a component in a fully integrated system.
