PVC powder is conveyed in dilute phase mode because there is no need to use a low velocity dense phase system for this material. I don't know why you cannot use air as the conveying gas, air being the least expensive. But if you cannot use air, you can use any other gas provided you use the physical properties of that gas in your calculations and also consider a closed loop conveying system to minimize costs. As regards instrumentation, as a minimum, you must use a pressure gage at the conveying blower/compressor discharge. Other instruments that you may like to use are a conveying blower ammeter, rotary valve speed indicator, level switches in the feed and receiving bins, and differential pressure indicator/alarm in the dust collector.

thanks for the information, actually i want to get the detailed description regrding theinterlocks to be provided in the pneumatic conveying system. also now we r having vibrating fork type level switches for high level trip, but it is giving spurious alarms and trips and when we checked it, its found ok. but the same problem is repeating. can we use any other type of level switch so that we can avoid this problem. since i am new in this area, i would also like to know the scope of instrumentation in this area.
