There are many possible reasons for this type of wear. You will need to do a full system inspection to determine actual cause.

- Drive pulley slippage.

- frozen center carrier roll(s).

- belt rubbing on frame.

- return plow too tight or rubber worn out and belt rubbing on frame.

- material trapped at tail pulley.

Dear Mr. Shane,

As Mr. Gary Blenkhorn has mentioned there could be many causes. I can comment only the following:

1) You have wear of belt on bottom cover and in the middle portion. The bottom cover comes in contact with drive pulley, so possibility of wear due to belt slippage at drive pulley.

2) If you have got multiple drive pulleys, whether the drive pulley speed in consequence of drive unit is matching to belt length passing at each drive pulley i.e. drive unit speed should match with the design requirements at each location.

3) Bottom cover is in contact with carrying idlers. Please check whether the idlers are the cause of the wear.

4) As said by earlier respondent, whether V plough is damaging the belt.

5) Material-build up on the pulley’s periphery.

6) If it is a steel cord belt, pulley should be without crowning or with the crowning magnitude as allowed for steel cord belt. Excessive crowning can cause large stresses / pressure in the middle portion when it is passing on pulleys.

Another one to check is the Impact beds if your using them.

Check the condition of the top slider section, if this is worn down they will need replacing. ■
