Melco has added the Rollerbrake™ as a safety option to its range of conveyor idlers. This mechanism, designed and developed in South Africa, enhances the functionality and operational safety of inclined conveyors. To date, in excess of 50,000 Rollerbrakes have been successfully supplied and installed on inclined conveyors.

The Melco Rollerbrake™ changes the nature of a conventional idler roll by providing reliable stopping power to any conveyor installation and supplementing conventional conveyor holdback devices in the event of their failure. It allows operators to stop and start the conveyor system at will and is designed to prevent belt runback and reduce downtime.

The Melco Rollerbrake’s™ contact surfaces are not load-bearing during normal operation so the rolling friction added to the conveyor installation by the product is negligible and the installation adds less than 1.5% of additional weight to a fully loaded conveyor. Manufactured to high quality standards from wear resistant metals and chromium steel bearings, it is available in all roll sizes.

Melco, a world player in the manufacture of conveyor idlers, modules and pulleys, has supplied product for operation in 55 countries. The Melco Rollerbrake™ reinforces the company’s commitment to continual improvement of its range of quality products.
