We need info asap for june 2004 project

Posted in: , on 1. Jun. 2004 - 14:35

Good Day! We are Minas del Filipinas a Mine Company from Philippines.

If by chance that some officer would be available, we would like to request for a quotation, design, of conveyor or floating platform of floating conveyor for iron ore shipment in the Philippines.

Our crushing plant would be installed few meters away from Malaguit River (Camarines Norte Philippines) hopefully this month of June 2004. In preparation for future development, we intend to be informed on equipment quotation, prices etc. Our first plan is to utilize this river to be our barging point, but after the result of our sequence studies, it figures that double handling would somehow ruin our economics.

Your cooperation would be of great help. We hope to do business with your company soon.

Thanks for your time.

Kind Regards,

Patrick Palacio

June 6, 2004,

To,

Mr. Patric Palacio,

Managing Partner / Marketing Strategist,

Minas Del Filipinas,

Unit 404, Building I, Amang Rogriguez Ave.

Pasig City, Phillipines 1611.

Sir,

I came across your requirement for a floating platform type of a loading station for transferring iron ore from barges into ocean going ships in Bulk-On-Line Forum.

Goa exported about 30 million tonnes of ore this season. All this quantity is loaded into river barges on ore loading terminals on Zuari and Mandovi Rivers. Barges move ore to Mormugao Harbour / Mormugao Ouer Harbour / Panaji Outer Harbour. Mechanical ore handling plant at Mormugao Harbour can load Panamax / cape size ships with draft of 12.5 m. About 12 million tonnes of ore was shipped through this facility.

Remaining 28 million tonnes was loaded midstream using transshipping vessels. Five transshipping vessels operate in these waters. These are retrofitted bulk carriers (in sizes varying from handy size vessels to Panamax vessels). Such vessels are operating from 1969 and I was involved in engineering of at least two of these vessels.

Please inform me following details to enable me to come back to you with more details of system suitable for your operation.

1.Location of your mine.

2.Distance from Mine to barge loading station.

3.Grade of ore produced in your mine / beneficiation plant.

4.Size of ore loaded in barges.

5.Annual tonnage planned for export.

6.Size of barge

7.Type of Ocean Going ship to be loaded.

8.Desired loading rate for barges TPH for ships TPD.

Please let me have these details as early as possible to enable me to make a proposal.

Sincerely,

(V. V. Sathe)

Dear Mr. Palacio:

Our company, EDC Inc., has been furnishing bulk materials handling systems since 1966. In the past 40 years, we have designed many offshore handling systems. There are a number of cost efffective ways to elliminate barges and load ships offshore directly. The distance from shore that material is to be conveyed and the size of ship to be loaded are two variables that will dictate what type of system should be employed. For the time being, please furnish us with this information, as well as the tons per hour to be loaded. I can be reached at wjherbst@edcincorp.com. Once I have this information I will respond directly with our recommendation.

Sincerely,

Walter J. Herbst, P.E.
