Pharmaceutical Separation Efficiency Jumps

With New Sweco "Sono-Energy System"

Florence, KY - Sweco recently announced the immediate availability of the "Sono-Energy System", an add-on device to their line of PharmASep round separators that eliminates separation screen "blinding", one of the most difficult production aspects of fine-screen pharmaceutical separation in aseptic environments.

The Sono-Energy System generates ultrasonic sound waves to prevent particles from clinging to separation screens and reduce mesh blinding during the screening process. The net result is a significant productivity increase and reduced production-line maintenance requirements.

For light density powders, the ultrasonic vibration of the Sono-Energy System prevents a "pancaking" or "glazing" effect that often plagues gravity screening processes. For heavy density powders, the lodging or wedging of near-size particles is greatly reduced. And for small, non-metallic particles with an electrostatic charge, the tendency to cling to separation screens is minimized to help further prevent screen blinding.

According to Sweco Product Manager, Joe Smith, "The Sono-Energy System substantially enhances the performance of our PharmASep filter/dryers when processing pharmaceuticals in an aseptic environment. It's the only system on the market that can utilize ultrasonic vibration in sterile applications.ä

With more than 60 years of separation technology experience, Sweco serves the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, paper and many other industries with a complete line of separation, sizing and milling equipment.
