I would like some response from all participants on this scenario please.
We manufacture vibrating screen machines. We ordered some standard clear opening wirecloth. The specification was as follows: 2.75" x 2.75 inch clear opening with bent edges....the wire diameter was .312" diameter in a high carbon abrasive resistant steel. The weave type was "SMOOTH TOP OR FLAT TOP WEAVE".
After installing in the vibrating box, it was noted by the installer that the WARP WIRE....OR the last wire running parallel to the length of the machine was LOOSE all the way up the screen section. THIS IS AND WAS UNACCEPTABLE. The wirecloth was new from the WIRECLOTH MFR and the MACHINE WAS NEW still in our shop.
*** Our assembly person with 25 yrs experience said it must come out, POOR QUALITY, and unacceptable to ship to the customer like this.
*** Three other assembly people in the shop, said.....NO PROBLEM...just tack weld it......instead of pulling back out and sending back, etc etc etc. JUST TACK WELD the intersections of the woven wirecloth.........no problem, what is the big deal???
OUR EXPERIENCED fellow said no.........that the customer would go NUTS if he saw this and we should not weld on woven wirecloth. I AGREE COMPLETELY with this......so we sent the 9 sections back.
*** The sections of wirecloth were sent back........and guess what??? the SCREENCLOTH mfr TACK WELDED THE insections of the wirecloth and sent them back to us as OKAY.
SIMPLE QUESTION: The mfr says it is no problem to tack weld and I will NOT pay for them.........as we know and believe it is A BIG PROBLEM......
PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS DILEMA.........is the customer RIGHT or the MANUFACTURER???
Look forward to hearing from anyone.......THANKS GEORGE
