International pavilion at the International Powder/Bulk Conference & Exhibition, Shanghai, October 2004

• New subtitle for TechnoPharm:

International Trade Fair for Life Science Process Technologies

Pharma – Food – Cosmetics

• ExploRisk to be integrated into POWTECH

At the international trade press conference on 17 March 2004, Claus Rättich, Director of Exhibition Management (Own Events), who is also responsible for the combined trade fairs POWTECH, TechnoPharm and ExploRisk, announced the following news:

POWTECH goes East

International pavilion at the International Powder/Bulk Conference & Exhibition, Shanghai

As a new service for its customers from mechanical and pharmaceutical process technologies, Nürnberg Global Fairs, subsidiary of NürnbergMesse and international exhibition specialist, together with the POWTECH/TechnoPharm project team will organize an international pavilion at the International Powder/Bulk Conference & Exhibition in Shanghai from 12-14 October 2004.

“China with its almost 1.3 milliard inhabitants and real economic growth of 8 per cent currently rates as the classic growth region. German foreign trade naturally also profits from this”, emphasized Claus Rättich. “Powder and bulk solids technologies form the basis of many processes in which products are manufactured for people’s basic needs. This means the market for such technologies particularly in China is extremely large. China is a key market for the suppliers of powder, granule and bulk solids technology for the coming 10 years.”

Growth and trade in China continue to boom unchanged. Chinese industrial production at the end of 2003 was 16.5 % above the previous year’s level according to information from the National Statistics Office in Beijing.

China is still attracting large direct foreign investment, which supports economic growth. China has long since shaken off its direct competitor Japan in trade with the USA and the European Union. The total export of goods and services from China in 2003 was 266 milliard US dollars and imports were 244 milliard US dollars – tendency rising. Exports of German goods rose by around 30 % from the beginning until the end of 2003. At seven milliard euros they are not far below imports from China (9.8 milliard euros).

Especially plant engineering is currently profiting from the general economic conditions. A big demand exists for equipment, technologies and know-how in key sectors of the Chinese economy, such as the chemical industry, pharmaceutical technology, petrochemicals, food technology, biotechnology and environmental protection.

So the international pavilion at the International Powder/Bulk Conference & Exhibition offers POWTECH and TechnoPharm exhibitors a very good opportunity to present their products and establish new business contacts. “We are firmly convinced that China is ready for such a special-interest exhibition in this field of technology”, said Claus Rättich.

The organization will be carried out by Nürnberg Global Fairs, a one-hundred-per-cent subsidiary of NürnbergMesse:

Nürnberg Global Fairs develops worldwide trade fairs as trade platforms or organizes pavilions for companies from all branches of industry. Much energy is devoted to identifying and assessing growth and niche markets so that regional know-how and experience of the industry can be utilized to keep the entry barriers for potential customers as low as possible and the chances of success high. As full-service provider, Nürnberg Global Fairs takes over the complete preparation, including market research, marketing and technical advice through to the supporting program.

New subtitle for TechnoPharm:

International Trade Fair for Life Science Process Technologies

Pharma – Food – Cosmetics

TechnoPharm is the leading forum in Europe for those responsible for the development, manufacture and analysis of pharmaceutical, cosmetic, dietary and health food products. The features of TechnoPharm 2004 are the provision of the latest information, concentration of the major trends and focus on the highly demanding clean room technology and pharmaceutical packaging. The new subtitle is also just as short and concentrated: “International Trade Fair for Life Science Process Technologies, Pharma – Food – Cosmetics”

“This concise subtitle contains all the essentials, reflects the focus on the exhibition segments and is also easily remembered”, explained Claus Rättich.

ExploRisk to be integrated into POWTECH

“ExploRisk as an independent exhibition produces satisfactory results for exhibitors and visitors, but not for us as organizer. For this reason, the exhibition will no longer be organized as a separate exhibition, but integrated into POWTECH”, said Claus Rättich. After many discussions with exhibitors and industry experts, NürnbergMesse decided to merge these two branches of industry with related themes. The theme segments of explosion protection and industrial safety previously represented at both trade fairs will be combined by this merger. The items in the ExploRisk nomenclature have already been incorporated in the nomenclature for the next POWTECH in 2005.

The successful ESMG Symposium will continue.
