Straight Warp Weave fabric

Can any one tell me the advantages and compromises of a Straight Warp Weave fabric in a conveyor belt. In which type of conveyor belt application is it used most?

Any links to books or technical information / papers on this subject will also be highly appreciated.

S Das

http://www.scandura.net/product/harv...conveyorspecs/

http://www.grtco.com/belts/hdc-forest.htm

You will need to do a browser "find" to get to the details.

Contact the site's direct and they might part with more info.

Dear Shri S Das,

The warps are carriers of the main tensile force in belt. As the warps are straight, the same should result in less stretch of belt. This should get reflected as comparatively less values for permanent elongation and elastic elongation (as compared to usual weave of fabric). Thus, there will be difference in indicated / committed values for both these types. Consequently, the take-up stroke will be comparatively less for straight warp fabric and so advantage in take-up length, particularly for long conveyor.

Above is general inference only. Please refer to belt manufacturers for specific information, as the issue falls in the purview of manufacturers of the belts.

Dear Das:

Straight warp belt advantages can be best read on Fenner/Scandura's website:

http://www.scandura.net/product/heavyweightindex.html

Straight warp offers advantage in strength and reduced plies in addition to lower elongation and take-up allowance. At the higher strength, idler troughing and belt splicing can be difficult. Scandura has overcome the splice problem by using finger splicing. Read their message.
