Case History/Application Study

Shown is JVI dual electromagnetic vibratory feeders batching precise amounts of cullet into a mixer at a glass plant. The feeders are completely dust tight and lined with chrome carbide liners for extended wear life.

Cullet, or crushed glass, is the main ingredient. The mixer is also receiving sand and other minor ingredients. The final product is flat glass products.

Mixer is mounted on load cells which weigh the input of cullet from the feeders. A PLC is monitoring the load and sending a signal to the feeders electromagnetic drives. The feed rate is adjusted from 0% to 100% and has instant stopping capability and so delivers precise batch amounts, at process set points, as needed.

JVI provided the feeders and complete support structures as well.

Advantages:

Low maintenance, accurate control, world-class JOST drive mechanisms and state-of-the-art designs are inherent with each JVI feeder. Additionally, JVI designed the support structure to ensure proper feeder and chutework clearances; it also ensures safe and stable vibratory feeder operation. This takes the guesswork out of design and support considerations for the customer.
