MALVERN, Pa., Oct. 8, 2003 – The clean up of spray booths between color runs is often cited as one of the largest drawbacks of powder coating technology. Preparing the spray booth for a new color run can take anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on many factors, including the size of the booth, the number of spray guns, and, most importantly, the cleaning method used. Nilfisk-Advance America’s efficient CFM 3507W industrial vacuum cleaner enables powder coating professionals to dramatically reduce the amount of time it takes to clean the spray booth.

“Electro-statically charged powder paint particles typically cling to walls and equipment, making them very difficult to remove,” said Mike D’Agostino, product manager for Nilfisk-Advance America. “But the CFM 3507W is so powerful that it defies the charge and makes it simple for workers to perform a fast, thorough cleaning. It enables them to virtually eliminate cross-color contamination and bleeding of colors from run to run, ensuring more flawless finished products and fewer rejects.”

The CFM 3507W’s efficiency can be attributed largely to its multi-stage filtration system. The system helps workers increase productivity with an oversized main filter that resists premature filter clogging and maintains maximum air power; a large-capacity collection tank that prevents workers from having to stop to empty the tank; and an external filter shaker handle that allows them to prevent filter clogging without opening the vacuum.

Additionally, the vacuum’s filtration system helps protect workers from the lead oxides, iron oxides, titanium-based powders, and other toxic substances used during the powder coating process. It features a series of filters that trap increasingly smaller particles as they travel through the vacuum, as well as a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter to ensure that toxic dust is retained inside the vacuum – not exhausted back into the air. The CFM 3507W is proven to capture 99.97% of all particles down to and including 0.3 microns in size.
