MARYSVILLE, Ohio, March 27 - To reduce mining operation downtime and increase production, Goodyear Engineered Products continues to roll out innovative conveyor belt designs.

Goodyear Conquest – the recently introduced heavy-duty belt construction with unique fabric weave design - is standing up to torturous aggregate operations.

“Conquest is one of the toughest fabric designs on the market,” said Mike

Braucher, marketing manager for Goodyear’s conveyor belt products. “It resists damage, allowing maximum up time.” Braucher added that Conquest meets most demanding applications, delivering the lowest cost-per-ton material transport system. Since switching to Conquest a year-and-a-half ago, a Utah aggregate mine has been running almost continuously, according to Braucher.

“The belt’s durability and performance reduced maintenance downtime, allowing the site to increase production by 30 percent and tonnage by 17 percent monthly,” he said. “Prior to installing the new conveyor belt, the mine’s maintenance team repaired the crusher belt weekly, recording 79 hours of downtime in seven months.”

Goodyear Conquest’s patented Triple-Warp fabric combats the harsh conditions found at hard rock, aggregate, coal and wood processing operations. Its 3-ply construction greatly increases belt resistance to punctures, tears, rips and fastener pullout. Braucher said lab tests conducted at Goodyear’s conveyor belt technical center in Marysville, Ohio, confirm that Conquest’s 3-ply, 600 PIW, or pounds-per-inch-of-width, construction improves impact resistance by 44 percent, tear resistance by 190 percent, and rip resistance by 38 percent, when compared to conventional multi-ply 600 PIW belts. Also available in 800 PIW construction, Conquest comes in widths up to 72 inches from Goodyear authorized distributors.
