Executive Director, Larry Paulson, recently announced the hiring of Arthur T. Carll as the port’s marketing manager. Carll officially assumed his position at the port on March 1, 2002, and reports directly to the port director of operations, Dan Loughney, in the marketing department.

Carll’s responsibilities include planning and implementing short and long range maritime marketing strategies, objectives and programs to promote domestic and international trade. In addition, Carll will conduct traffic studies and surveys, analyze data, track cargo trends, and develop and maintain positive relations with maritime customers.

Prior to joining the port, Carll was the owner and president of 3B’s Transportation Company based in Lewiston, Idaho, where he managed four divisions at 3B’s including marine terminal operation, trucking and warehousing distribution. Carll was the general manager for West Best Freight Systems in Lewiston, Idaho, before purchasing 3B’s Transportation Company. Before relocating to Idaho in 1990, Carll was a terminal and warehouse manager for Midwest Coast Transfer in Sanford, Fla.

"Art has worked in the transportation business throughout his career," said Loughney. "His contribution to our port team will greatly enhance the port’s mission of providing economic benefit to the community."

Carll attended Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, N. M., and Lewis and Clark State College, Lewiston, Idaho. Carll currently resides in Vancouver, Wash., with his wife, Terrie. They have two grown sons, Anthony and Vinnie. Anthony, 22, is in the U.S. Coast Guard, and attends Hilo Junior College in Hawaii. Vinnie, 20, is in training with the U.S. Air Force.

The Port of Vancouver, USA, created by Clark County taxpayers in 1912, is one of the major ports on the Pacific Coast. Located in the convenient hub of marine, rail, highway or air cargo transportation network, the Port of Vancouver currently has over 40 companies on port property and has 1,045 acres of land available for expansion and development.
