Outotec expert is guest presenter for Malvern mineral processing webinar

September 9, 2010, Malvern, UK - Mr. Matti Kongas, Global Technology Manager, Analyzers, at minerals processing and metallurgical technologies company Outotec (Espoo, Finland) will discuss ‘On-line slurry particle size analysis in mineral processing applications’ as part of Malvern Instruments’ latest web seminar series. His webinar is being held on 28 September 2010 and participation is open to all at no cost. For further details and to register visit www.malvernevents.com

It is important to recognise that laser diffraction technology has opened up new applications for on-line particle size analysis of mineral slurries, where control of grinding circuits based on product particle size is essential for downstream process performance. In some cases the particle size distribution of the final concentrate is an important quality issue and in addition energy use in grinding deserves greater attention. Matti Kongas will discuss on-line particle size analysis technologies and present experiences with the use of laser diffraction in minerals processing operations.

Malvern Instruments and Outotec have worked together in the area of minerals processing for almost a decade, launching the PSI 500 on stream particle size analyzer, the first product to result from their collaborative work, in early 2003. The PSI500 uses Malvern’s Insitec real-time on-line particle sizing platform and samples directly from the process line.
