Advanced Conveyor Technologies, Inc (AC-Tek) is one of the original pioneers of commercial Discrete Element Method (DEM) software. For more than 10 years, our Newton software has been used by many companies (include ourselves) to simulate bulk solids granular flow in a wide variety of applications from transfer chutes to belt feeders and more.
Newton models the material as clusters, each of which is composed of spheres (dozens or hundreds) to create complex shapes. Clusters are much more representative of true material than single spheres because they are able to sustain a rotational moment and they don't roll around freely.
The new version 2.50 brings support for both STEP and IGES file types, allowing much more flexibility for users to import their chute geometry. This addition complements the existing "auto-generation" features that allow users to input just a few basic parameters to have Newton automatically generate 3-roll conveyors belts, 5-roll conveyors belts, apron feeders, chain feeders, en masse feeders, and bucket elevators.
