What Is The Limitation Of Using Belt Fasteners?

Dear all,

Is there any limitations of using mechanical fasteners ? I have heard that above 1000 N/mm belts, fasteners are not recommonded. Is this true ? But in many single ply belts, ( conveyor having single ply ), are mechanical fasteners preferred than vulcanising joints ?
