Sadara Chemical Company opts for intra-logistics from the HAVER Group

Together with its Westphalia-based parent company HAVER & BOECKER and machine manufacturer Möllers, FEIGE FILLING received its biggest order in its more than 40 year company-history from Foster & Wheeler. The order is part of the world’s largest petrochemical plant currently in planning and slated to be constructed in a single step. Using the slogan “Everything from a single source”, the HAVER Group was successful in convincing engineering company Foster & Wheeler and customer Sadara Chemical Company during contract negotiations and at numerous design meetings that had taken place earlier.

SADARA Chemical Company is a joint venture between DOW Chemicals and ARAMCO, Saudi Arabian Oil Company. SADARA will be the world’s largest petrochemical plant. Completion is planned in a single phase by 2015. Under this partnership many chemical products will be produced and marketed for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. FEIGE FILLING GmbH was able to receive the contract for the liquid intra-logistics within the process chain. Moreover HAVER & BOECKER also takes over the intra-logistics part for solids. As a whole the unique characteristics of each field, the professionalism of the group-wide cooperation, various synergy effects, and leading technologies convinced the clients.

The Sadara Chemical Company in Al Jubail (Saudi Arabia) is outstanding in many regards. Soon every second approximately 90,000 litres of basis chemicals will be filled into transport-suitable packaging units or delivered to the logistics system as single packages. The chemicals are toxic and many of them explosive, e.g. isocyanate. On the side of solid products, polyethylene and polypropylene granulate will be processed at a rate of 400 tonnes/hr. The project has a very strong global character. The networked communication between the operating plant, engineering companies, and system supplier is of fundamental importance and is the decisive factor for the success of the project. For this reason the HAVER Group offers a single project team interface with the customer. This considerable interface reduction thus has a positive impact on communication efficiency.

Not least, years of successful business relationships have led to a solid basis for trust. Both joint venture partners, Saudi Aramco and DOW Chemical, operate a total of more than 200 systems from FEIGE and HAVER & BOECKER. They not only appreciate their high operational dependability and ecological sustainability, but also their long operating lifetimes.

The liquid-filling volume that is managed by FEIGE is designed so that a rate increase of approximately 120,000 litres per hour can be reached with little cost. While HAVER & BOECKER will deliver six lines for filling polypropylene and polyethylene granulate, FEIGE is responsible for supplying six drum-filling lines.
