3i’s Technologies World Introduction of Rotary Vane Feeder

Vineland, New Jersey, June 11th, 2012 - The world introduction of the Rotary Vane Feeder added a design optimized continuous feeding technology to the award winning Rotary Scalpel technology. The Rotary Scalpel is focused towards batch/filling applications. The addition of the Rotary Vane Feeder enables 3i’s Technologies to offer more extreme solutions to the problems encountered across the whole feeding, batching, and filling processes.

The Rotary Vane technology utilizes two innovative key concepts: 1. an inlet specially designed to ensure consistent material flow into the rotary drum and 2. pneumatic evacuation technology to ensure reliable feeding, batching and filling even with difficult flowing materials. The Rotary Vane’s solution to the typical drawbacks of conventional feeding devices is the concept of filling each vane on a consistent basis and ensuring complete discharge of each vane throughout the process. This procedure ensures that a completely empty vane is presented for fill on the next rotation.

Standard features for the Rotary Vane Feeder include compact and space efficient design that ensures ease of installation in new or existing process lines and a simple clean design for easy maintenance and disassembly without tools, in less than 5 minutes. Furthermore, it provides gentle metering and discharge of material preventing segregation and degradation. The materials flow on a first in – first out basis achieving mass flow. The Rotary Vane Feeder is available as a volumetric or gravimetric operating modes in both gain-in-weight and loss-in-weight configurations.

According to John Pettit, the president of 3i’s Technologies,” the Rotary Vane Feeder is a great alternative to screw feeders because there is no friction, packing, or dragging of the materials and most importantly, no segregation; keeping the mix integrity and particle size distribution intact”.
