Dust protection with self-cleaning effect

New antenna cover keeps the measuring system of radar sensors free of dust at low cost

In applications with extreme dust generation, an antenna cover is an inexpensive option for keeping the measuring system of VEGAPULS radar sensors clean. The self-cleaning GORE-TEX® antenna cover guarantees reliable, maintenance-free operation.

and SR 68 free of dust

For radar sensors, one simple rule applies: the higher the frequency, the more vulnerable the antenna is to buildup and dirt. In applications with extreme dust and buildup, the antenna system is often kept clean with compressed air. Compressed air, however, is an expensive resource. So in the search for a more efficient way to protect the parabolic and horn antennas of VEGAPULS 68 and SR 68 radar sensors against dust deposits, an alternative to cost-intensive compressed air was considered.

The innovative GORE-TEX® antenna cover is a simple, cost-effective way to keep the antenna system clean. Having all the advantages of this special material, it is permanently waterproof and protects the antenna system optimally from dust and moisture.

Exceptional properties for a wide range of applications

The antenna cover is ideal for applications where there is heavy dust deposition, e.g. caused by the pneumatic filling of silos with lime, cement or plastic powder. Air movement or vibration in the silo produce a self-cleaning effect within the flexible fabric: the deposits simply fall off. This saves expenditures for compressed air and reduces maintenance work. The cover is held by a silicone gasket and secured with a band clamp. It can be used in temperatures up to +200 °C.
