A revolution in energy savings

Energy efficiency is becoming ever more important for modern industry, and that is the big theme at this year’s ComVac, the foremost international fair for compressed air and vacuum technology which takes place as part of Hannover Messe. Needless to say, as an innovator for all things compressed air, Kaeser Kompressoren will be there and looks forward to welcoming visitors to its stand (D42, Hall 26) which will have more than 1000 m of energy efficient solutions and products on display.

Amongst the many highlights on show will be the new “Sigma Control 2”. This advanced internal compressor controller not only adjusts compressor performance to match actual demand, but also offers a host of other advantages. Versatile interfaces, for example, and groundbreaking plug-in communication module technology make connection to compressed air management systems, computer networks and remote diagnostics & monitoring systems, such as Kaeser's Teleservice facility, more flexible than ever. In addition, an integrated RFID reader enables standardised service, ensures secure log-in for users and significantly enhances service quality.

Kaeser is also proud to unveil its latest development in compressed air system management technology: The next generation Sigma Air Manager (SAM). Using its innovative 3-D-Control (patent pending), the SAM is able to drastically reduce compressed air system energy demand by analysing the three crucial “dimensions” that affect energy-efficient control within a compressed air station: 1. Switching losses, 2. Additional energy consumption for pressure increases above the required pressure and 3. Control losses. The SAM constantly analyses the relationship between these factors, calculates the best possible result and controls the compressors accordingly.

Visitors to ComVac 2011’s largest stand will of course find the full spectrum of Kaeser products, which includes, for example, new ranges of dry-running and fluid-cooled rotary screw compressors. Themes surrounding compressed air services and product solutions for specialised compressed air applications complete the Kaeser exhibit. These range from viewing the compressed air system as a whole (the only approach which guarantees long-term efficiency and cost-effectiveness) to the use of compact Airbox reciprocating compressors for oil-free compressed air, e.g. in laboratories, hospitals and in the food industry.

Last but not least, visitors will also be able to benefit from expert advice concerning the “revolution in energy savings” at the Kaeser Technology Forum, where leading specialists on all aspects of compressed air system engineering will be available to answer questions.
