High Capacity & Lift Overland Conveyor

Posted in: , on 20. Apr. 2010 - 04:32

I am working with a client (large organisation) as an owner's engineer for a project. The project may involve an overland conveyor system with parameters in the order of:

  • Length = 8.5 km
  • Capacity = 10,000 tonnes/hr to 13,000 tonnes/hr depending on availability and other factors being studied
  • Material = rock/ore
  • Route = straight (no horizontal curves)
  • Elevation = generally rising from loading point, over a crest and down to discharge point. Loading point to crest = 440m rise. Loading point to discharge = 40m rise.

So this is a big system in anybody's book. The project will require the services of a conveyor designer and the services of a competant peer review team. I expect the owner's team will include reviewers for belt and dynamics, structures, geotechnical issues (highly fractured rock with pyroclastics!), chutes, drives, construction, operations and maintenance. It would be ideal if all those skills could be held by a small team of people.

At this stage I am looking to engage individuals or companies to form the owner's review team. If you are interested and have conveyors of the scale of this one on your CV, then please send me an email to mwolton(at)pb.com.au (I have a client email address but using that would give away the client and probably the project which I can't do)

I am already aware of Larry N, Edmond O'D and Mark A and will email those guys directly once I have funding approval.

Please no spam. If your company cannot demonstrate expertise in these very large systems, there is no point contacting me.

Thanks for your interest.

Mark Wolton

The project finally has funding approval and selected firms will receive an invitation to provide an expression of interest in the next day or so. It will come from a Bechtel Procurement representative in Australia.

Thanks,

Mark Wolton
