AUMUND Group:

Semi portal scraper reclaimers and SamsonTM receiving units for Turceni Power Station

Two semi portal scraper reclaimers for limestone with a reclaiming capacity of 200 t/h plus one further semi portal scraper reclaimer for FGD gypsum (300 t/h) form part of the package that SCHADE Lagertechnik GmbH, Herne, will supply next year to the Romanian Turceni Power Station via Thyssen Krupp Fördertechnik. In addition, the AUMUND Group will deliver four SamsonTM receiving units for the limestone transport. The power station in Turceni is the largest electric power producer in Romania and, with its seven identical 330-megawatt blocks one of the largest thermal power plants. Currently, the state-owned company is investing about EUR 224 million into the modernization of the power station.

The semi portal scraper reclaimer for FGD gypsum with its 23 m span operates at a capacity of 360 t/h. The four SamsonTM receiving units of identical design take care of the transfer of limestone from trucks with a total weight of maximally 40 tons and transport the material onto a subsequent conveyor or directly onto a subsequent crusher.

For the limestone transport, the operators fully trust in a proven concept: The SamsonTM concept, developed by AUMUND subsidiary B&W Mechanical Handling Ltd. UK, which combines a steel plate conveyor with a flat belt, uniting the benefits of a torsion-proof conveying surface with the clean operation of a belt conveyor. In the meantime, more than 500 machines of different design have been supplied to a wide variety of industries. The uniform discharge of the material directly fed into the machine by tipping trucks results in high transfer capacities, while at the same time the low height of fall considerably cuts down the dust generation when material with a high content of fines is fed. The SamsonTM unit is capable of receiving almost any kind of bulk material directly from tipping trucks or loading shovels and enables short-time buffer storage and controlled bulk material transfer onto subsequent components of the works. Thanks to its overground installation, the SamsonTM represents a flexible alternative to traditional tipping points with underfloor pits.

Upon customer request, the SamsonTM receiving unit can also be delivered in ATEX compliant design for use in potentially explosive areas. For the Polaniec Power Station, the Polish company of Mostostal Zabrze placed an order for four SamsonTM receiving units of identical construction in ATEX design with 11 m center distance and 460 t/h conveying capacity to handle agricultural biomass [agri-biomass].
